Verify that the killswitch is working as intended

To verify that the killswitch works as intended, you can simulate a situation in which the killswitch should activate. You can do this in the following way:

Windows:

  1. Launch OVPN
  2. Connect to a server
  3. Open the Task manager
  4. Find the process OpenVPN Daemon
  5. Close the process OpenVPN Daemon

The killswitch is is now active, and you will not have an Internet connection. To restore the killswitch and Internet connectivity, simply close the client as normal.

Mac:

  1. Launch OVPN
  2. Connect to a server
  3. Open the Task Monitor
  4. Find the process OpenVPN
  5. Choose to close the process
  6. In the following window, choose the option force quit

The killswitch is is now active, and you will not have an Internet connection. To restore the killswitch and Internet connectivity, simply close the client as normal.
